Over the weekend I was invited by Hyundai NZ to the inaugural NZ rally event called '"The Battle of Jacks Ridge".
Originally, this facility was earmarked for the New Zealand leg of the World Rally Championship, and would have been part of the Power stage.
However due to Covid-19 WRC in NZ was cancelled and the event has been put on ice.
But with such a fabulous facility just 30min drive from Auckland CBD, A new event was quickly created and this attracted a field of New Zealand talent unseen before.
Hayden Paddon, Greg Murphy, Shane Van Gisbergen, Mad Mike Whiddett...and of course ex NZ rally champ and owner of the track Andrew Hawkeswood..The list of competitors was outstanding and a fantastic event to boot.
Photography conditions where tough, Dirt, Dust, 25c sunshine and plenty of heat haze so special attention was needed.
I had the privilege to be in a private area situated on one of the cool fast corners. I also had good vantage towards the speed jump so my 150-600mm lens was my key choice.
Here are some of the results.
Technical Details (Averages) ISO200, 400mm, 1/400, AWB (Cropped), Hand held
